Northcott Theatre’s Costume Maker and Wardrobe Manager Beth De Tisi Photographed by Matt Austin

Posted on January 23, 2013

Had the pleasure of being sent to photograph Northcott Theatre’s Wardrobe Manager Beth De Tisi in her under the stage den full of costumes (obviously) and tonnes of bits and bobs, reams of fabric, hats, wigs, absolutely packed to the rafters with anything that could be used for the stage. A real treat to photograph, but the light was a little tricky, with no real daylight and loads of energy-saving lightbulbs on a strange array of different circuits proving difficult to turn some of and keep others on. In the end rather than battle with the light I decided to use it and soften the colour cast with lights of my own and in other pictures just using the available light which ended up being quite atmospheric. Please…

Ruby Modern Diner new Restaurant in Queen street Exeter Photographed by Matt Austin

Posted on January 22, 2013

Had a privileged first look at superb soon to be opened new Restaurant the Ruby Modern Diner in Queen street Exeter. The place is stunning, taking all the best bits from the classic American Diner adding modern elegance producing a unique atmosphere. It’s the brainchild of Owners Erin Allgrove and Dicky Harrison seen pictured above also both from Devon. For me its great to see local business people occupying a prime Queen Street location that people would have put their mortgage on that It would have been occupied by some large chain of restaurants or another big high street name. The only sad thing about my visit was that I came a couple of days before the kitchen was up and running so sadly I never…

A great commission photographing the Ministry of Historical Defence Characters in the city centre of Exeter for press promotion of the upcoming show The Exeter Riddle which will be happening in Belmont Park on Saturday 23 February. The show is the finale of the Animated Exeter Festival. https://www.animatedexeter.co.uk/ An enjoyable time following them around the city centre photographing them interacting with the public and seeing the expressions on people’s faces not knowing whether this is real or not. Please take a look at some of the pictures below. Thanks for looking. A great job today photographing Devon company Supacat who make high-mobility vehicles, for organisations like the MOD and the RNLI, the focus of today was to take images of the workshops where they put together these amazing vehicles. Spent a lot of time photographing the new Launch & Recovery System (L&RS) developed for the RNLI, massive machines built to launch and recover lifeboats, Also had a look at the military vehicles like the one above designed to drive through mine fields. Photographed the Founder of the company Nick Jones who kindly perched on the end of the RNLI machine for a pic and the General Manager Chris Compton and a number of skilled technicians all who seemed very happy to be working at such a unique company. Please…

The older of the brothers Otto ended up being the focus for the pictures as it was a bit to cold for  his little brother Ari. They also had friends down with them who had a Pretty little girl who you can see pictured too. Please…
