Rough and Ready 30 minute front room studio Children’s Portrait session by Photographer Matt Austin
Posted on December 26, 2012
The day before Christmas eve we had my two nephews Toby and Will come around to ours for a sort of early Christmas dinner as we wouldn’t see them on Christmas day.
I also had to take some pictures of the boys for family presents, normally I would try to do this outside in the sunshine or in a suitable location but the weather was against me and we needed to get the pictures done, we headed outside and took a couple but the weather soon changed.
I don’t really use a studio, being much more comfortable using natural light and location, but this had to be done asap for Christmas, so I set up a rough and ready mini studio in corner of the front room with a couple of speedlights.
It was a fun little session lasting about 30 mins and I got some nice pictures of the boys and some with their cousin, my daughter Amelie.
The lighting is a little rough and there are shadows everywhere but I quite like it a looking a bit rough as I’m not a fan of the sometimes sterile/clinical look to pictures shot in a studio.
Please take a look at the pictures below.
Thanks for looking.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
